THE ADJECTIVE Read the following sentences : 1. Riya is an intelligent girl. 2. That book is mine . 3. Few people can never understand moral values . 4. I have five mangoes . In the above sentences , words like intelligent , that , few and five are describing one or the other quality of a noun in the sentence . like in sentence 1 - ' intelligent ' is describing ,what kind of girl Riya is . In sentence 2- 'that ' points out which book is meant . In sentence 3 and 4 - words ' few' and ' five 'points out how many people or how many mangoes . Definition : '' A word which describes noun in different manner - like its quality ,quantity ,or number is called an Adjective ''. Adjectives are also called describing words .
